^Lot 5136 JOSLYN 1862 BREECH LOADING SADDLE RING CARBINE.

Cal. 52 RF. S# 2622. This is 1 of the 2200 US Govt purchased 1862 carbines. These are the earlier less found examples with the friction lock breech block that were later replaced with the 1864 models. The 22" bbl is fitted with 3-leaf rear sight. The block has matching SN and is marked with the 3-line patent date over the SN. Brass furniture. Small parts are marked with sub-inspector proof marks. Boxed inspectors cartouche is legible above the rec ring bar. CONDITION: overall good. Metal has a fairly even grey patina with some scattered mottling from old smooth oxidation. The stock is handworn with some light sanding and dents. Shiny cleaned bore with some rifling wear and spots of pitting. (01-29042/ZAL). ANTIQUE. $1,200-1,800.
